• Domain registered through oversea registrar can’t apply for ICP anymore. It might take extra week to transfer over domain name or register new domain names.
• You must use a hosing server from aliyun if the ICP registered through Aliyun.
• The website has to be alive in 3 months, and it has to be with the correct ICP number and linking to MIIT’s website.
• It has to be some Chinese content on the website.
• The contact person has to be able to answer the phone call and answer the correct company name without a simple mistake.

We are happy that we are getting through so many difficulties this year, and finally find the best solution for our client. However, we feel that things might getting harder in 2019. For example, Many of our client have received warning from them because the contact person hadn’t pick up the phone call. It is really urged. The contact person could be visiting another country or in a meeting. It happened quite often in working hours. But MIIT won’t give us a second chance.

In order to provide better service to our client, we decided to provide continue maintain service started from 2019.

Then you can purchase an used domain name which already has associated with ICP license.

• Is there any words that you want to be included in the domain name?

If your company is registered in Shanghai, then this is what you need to know. We will ask you to provide a contact in Shanghai. As the webmaster has to be located in Shanghai and using a mobile number that is belongs to Shanghai. And the APP will GPS its location, the location has to be Shanghai. We might need his/her national id and install MIIT’s APP from his/her mobile. Our ICP specialist will guide him/her step by step to submit the application through APP.

Of course, We can be your webmaster too if it is easier for you. And you can change it in future. But we will charge a fee when you want to change any of the information associated with your current ICP. The process would be similar to a new application, so the fee would be similar too.

Many of our clients use our company registered ICP before and now they have registered their own company/ WOFE in China, they want to transfer it to its own company. What is the process for transferring the ICP if you ever need to?

Update the ownership of the ICP:

1.  Sign off the current ICP license: If you obtained the ICP from us, we could sign it off from current ICP quickly. Because we have all the information in hand. But if you want to register it off from other company, you’d better to provide us the password of your current ICP and the full set of document that used to apply for it. Just like registering new ICP, It might take 5-10 working days base on which region you applied for your current ICP.
2. Registering a new ICP under your own company.

Please note that the owner of the ICP could be different with the domain owner. If your domain name is registered under our ICP license, we are the owner of the ICP. You are the unique owner of your domain. You can transfer the domain name as you want when your domain had been attached to an ICP.

Transferring to another hosting server:

The ICP license could be registered through hosting server provider, if you want to use aliyun’s hosting server, the ICP must be registered through aliyun. Don’t ask why, it is the policy, it is the rule to follow. And if you registered an ICP through aliyun without using their hosting server, aliyun has the right to revoke your ICP.

The process is similar to new application, so it takes 5-10 working days too. But you can keep your website alive during the process. And all of the information under the ICP won’t change, except the hosting company.

Please put some content on root domain within 6 months. If the root domain has not yet alive after ICP issued 6 months, the chances of losing your ICP is high. And It is important that you put the ICP number in the footer of your website, a backlink to MIIT’s official website is a MUST. Otherwise, MIIT might revoke your ICP license anytime without notification. We will check the link and follow up on this to avoid our client lost their ICP license. http://www.miitbeian.gov.cn is MIIT’s official website, this website seems to be dead oversea, but it is visible in China. So don’t hesitate to add it. You can add nofollow tags to it or use iframe for the link. We won’t responsible for it if the ICP revoked because of the absent of the link. So you need to pay again to registering a new ICP.

Add a sub domain and host in China

If you haven’t purchased hosting server yet, buy it from your ICP registrar would be the best choice. However, many of our clients are using cloudflare to provide fast website service to global visitors. And their hosting server is not in China at all. So we suggest that you hosting a sub domain in China and purchase it from the ICP registrar. If you have already purchased our ICP service, we could do it for free. The only thing that you need to do is adding A record for the sub-domain to the hosting server that i provided to you. e.g.: icp.yourdomain.com

Choose a domain registrar from CNNIC

If you have decided to use a China local country domain, it would be better to use a registrar from the list on CNNIC which we have mentioned in the post how to register a Chinese domain. Although the policy is not very clear on this point, there are some province doesn’t accept domains that registered from foreign registrar now. e.g.: Beijing, Hunan… For a serious international company that want to expend China market, we would recommend to use a China local country domain now. As we can see that the internet security could be a top level priority in near future.

Countries are trying to setup healthy internet policy to protecting attach from other countries. ICP is a big obstacle when you trying to set up internet presents in China. We will continue learning the policy and try to provide ICP service to oversea companies.

In addition, you could download a certificate file from MIIT’s website, but their system is not working at all, all the certificate file that downloaded is 0 kb. It is useless. So please don’t struggling on this.
